Witt's father was the political Bull of the Woods.  He hailed from the town of Eldora, Alabama.  The population was around 1,000 during his youth.  Half white, half black.  At an early age he went on rides with his father and the KKK across the tracks.  He took over his father's diner in the 60's and became famous fan an ax handle he named Robert E. Lee.  This was his tool of choice that he used to keep blacks from sitting at the counter.

Eventually he became mayor of Eldora.  After this he became the golden boy of the Democratic Party.

The backstory on the Rev. Daniel Witt is not very complex.  He started as an intern in the Reagan administration.  He was the young college guy who turned off Reagan's microphone when the President started talking about videogames and the future of warfare.  This happened right after the invasion of San Ramiro and the overthrow of the democratically elected communist government.

Also, when he was twelve years old his father died of a heart attack.  When he died he was watching an adult film at the Foster Theater in the bad part of town.

The real Witt had southern sympathies.  He had an axe handle on his fireplace that was used by the segregationist governor to keep blacks out of his fried chicken shop.  He frequently referred to the War of Northern Aggression.
